Business Software Alliance has launched its “2027 Global Cyber Agenda for an AI World,” calling on governments in India and globally to rethink cybersecurity policies as frontier AI reshapes cyber risk. Released during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the agenda sets out eight priority actions to help defenders keep pace with faster and more sophisticated threats.
Today’s frontier AI cybersecurity systems can independently discover vulnerabilities, combine exploits and execute cyberattacks. The result is a structural shift in cyber risk with attacks emerging faster and scaling more broadly, while the expertise needed to launch them falls. Policies designed for a slower and more human-driven threat environment may no longer be sufficient, even as many foundational cybersecurity approaches, including C-suite leadership, public-private collaboration and internationally recognized standards, remain as important as ever.
BSA’s 2027 Global Cyber Agenda for an AIWorld calls on governments to prioritize deploying AI for cybersecurity and giving cybersecurity professionals priority access to frontier AI cybersecurity systems, building on steps companies are already taking to provide these tools to trusted defenders. The agenda recommends improving vulnerability management, modernizing legacy systems that often operate beyond their supported life cycles, and building resilience into systems so organizations can keep operating during incidents and recover quickly.
The agenda argues that the rise of autonomous AI cybersecurity systems calls for a rethink of existing cyber policies. Approaches designed for a slower, more human-driven threat environment may no longer be sufficient as attacks become faster, more scalable and more sophisticated.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent call at the India Mobile Congress 2026 for a global framework to address cybercrime and AI-driven deepfakes reinforces the importance of international cooperation in tackling emerging cybersecurity threats. As the India AI Mission accelerates AI adoption nationwide, cybersecurity must keep pace. BSA’s 2027 Global Cyber Agenda shows how India can harness AI for cyber defense, align its rules with global norms and prepare critical systems for the post-quantum era to build a safe and trusted digital economy,” said Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy, Country Manager, India, Business Software Alliance.
The agenda also urges aligning regulations to strengthen cybersecurity, noting that fragmented and overlapping cybersecurity regulations continue to shift resources away from cybersecurity itself. Finally, it calls for upgrading to post-quantum cryptography and measuring cybersecurity outcomes through operational metrics such as mean time to detect and mean time to respond.
