Proofpoint Brings AI Activity Under the Same Security Roof as Human Work

A new integration with Anthropic’s Claude Compliance API lets enterprises govern AI agents the same way they govern people — without adding another security tool.

The Problem With Two Rulebooks

As AI agents move from pilot programs into live enterprise workflows, they are reading sensitive files, drafting communications, and triggering business decisions — yet most security frameworks were built around human behavior alone. According to Proofpoint’s 2026 AI and Human Risk Landscape Report, nearly 9 in 10 global organizations have moved AI assistants beyond the pilot stage, but 42% have already reported a suspicious or confirmed AI-related incident. That gap between adoption and governance is exactly what this new integration aims to close.

One Platform, One Control Layer

Proofpoint announced today that its cybersecurity and compliance platform now integrates directly with Anthropic’s Claude Compliance API. The result: enterprises can apply the same data loss prevention (DLP) policies, insider risk models, and behavioral classifiers they already use across email, endpoints, and cloud apps to Claude’s AI activity — including prompts, responses, uploaded files, and workflow logs.

“Humans and AI agents operate in the same workflows, access the same sensitive data, and shape the same business decisions,” said Mayank Choudhary, EVP and GM of Proofpoint’s Information Protection and Compliance group. “They require one control layer.”

Beyond Just Capturing Logs

A second integration extends Proofpoint’s Digital Communications Governance (DCG) into Claude Enterprise. This goes further than transcript capture — it brings AI-assisted conversations into supervision, eDiscovery, and investigation workflows, enabling organizations to understand intent and reconstruct decisions for regulatory review.

Why It Matters

For compliance-heavy industries like finance, healthcare, and legal services, this means AI adoption no longer has to outpace governance. The integration makes defensible oversight of AI-assisted work practical — at scale.
