Cybersecurity giant introduces Prisma SASE 4.0, featuring new browser-based protection, as the company’s SASE revenue surpasses $1.3 billion.
Palo Alto Networks unveiled its latest cybersecurity platform on Thursday, targeting sophisticated threats that traditional security systems cannot detect. The company’s new Prisma SASE 4.0 introduces browser-based protection designed to stop malware that assembles directly within web browsers.
Browser Becomes New Battleground
The Santa Clara-based company says browsers have become the primary workspace for businesses, making them attractive targets for cybercriminals. Unlike traditional security tools that monitor network traffic, the new Prisma Browser technology inspects web pages in real-time as they load, catching threats that only activate after user interaction.
“The conversation with business leaders has evolved. It’s no longer just about blocking threats—it’s about enabling growth,” said Anand Oswal, Executive Vice President of Network Security at Palo Alto Networks.
AI-Powered Security for AI-Driven Threats
The platform uses artificial intelligence to classify sensitive data with 10 times fewer false alarms than traditional methods. This becomes crucial as AI tools, such as chatbots and copilots, gain direct access to corporate information, creating new security risks.
The system comprises over 140 pre-trained machine learning models designed to protect critical business assets, including patents, contracts, and source code. It can also identify sensitive information in images and unstructured documents that older systems often miss.
Strong Market Performance
Palo Alto Networks has established itself as a leader in the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) market, with annual recurring revenue reaching $1.3 billion in fiscal 2025—a 35% increase year-over-year. The company serves more than 6,300 SASE customers, including one-third of Fortune 500 companies.
The Prisma Browser has attracted over 6 million licensed users, demonstrating strong adoption among enterprises.
Addressing Modern Workplace Challenges
The new platform addresses the reality of today’s distributed workforce, where employees work from anywhere using various devices and cloud applications. Traditional security perimeters no longer exist, as attackers utilize AI to launch faster and more sophisticated attacks.
Prisma SASE 4.0 also includes enhanced protection for private business applications and improved DNS security, providing comprehensive coverage across the entire digital infrastructure.
The announcement reflects the cybersecurity industry’s shift toward integrated platforms that combine multiple security functions, moving away from fragmented point solutions that can slow productivity and create security gaps.
