Samir Aksekar has been appointed Managing Director at EQT Group, marking a significant expansion of his responsibilities within the firm’s global leadership team.
Samir transitions into this role after serving as Cybersecurity Director at EQT, where he worked closely with APAC portfolio companies to strengthen cyber resilience, align security with business priorities, and support scalable digital growth. As Managing Director, his focus broadens to integrating technology, cybersecurity, and risk governance into EQT’s value-creation strategy, enabling portfolio companies to grow securely while navigating complex regulatory environments.
Prior to EQT, Samir was Chief Information Security Officer at Tata Digital, where he played a pivotal role in securing the launch and scale-up of Tata Neu, India’s first super-app. His work helped fast-growing businesses across fintech, edtech, and travel adopt a security-by-design approach, balancing innovation speed with trust, resilience, and data privacy. He also contributed to M&A evaluations, assessing technology and cyber risk during acquisitions.
Earlier in his career, Samir spent close to a decade at J.P. Morgan in Asia Pacific, leading cybersecurity, technology controls, and governance programs across multiple markets. His experience also includes leadership roles at Cyberwis and IBM, advising organizations in banking, healthcare, and technology on risk, compliance, and transformation.
