Before joining CaratLane, Kumaran worked as Senior Manager – Information Security at Standard Chartered Bank, where he spent nearly four years. During his tenure, he was responsible for technical control testing across critical IT systems, governance, risk and compliance initiatives, control gap analysis, risk assessments, and supporting audit readiness and remediation activities.
Prior to this, he served as Chief Manager – Information Security Group at Karur Vysya Bank. He oversaw the implementation of network and endpoint security solutions, including firewalls, WAFs, IDS/IPS, PAM, DLP, NAC and SIEM systems. He also led Security Operations Center activities, managed incident response and threat analysis, and ensured alignment with ISO 27001 and statutory compliance requirements.
Earlier, Kumaran was associated with Standard Chartered Bank as Manager – Information Security, contributing to the development and implementation of security solutions. His responsibilities included defining security requirements, conducting proof-of-concepts and providing technical guidance on emerging security technologies.
He also held the position of Lead Information Security Analyst at Netsurion, where he managed SOC activities involving SIEM deployment and threat analysis across the banking and healthcare sectors. His work encompassed incident response, vulnerability assessments and security risk reporting.
Kumaran spent four years at Zoho Corporation as an Information Security Presales Consultant, offering security advisory and presales support to clients. He worked across areas such as data privacy, PCI DSS, ISO, NIST, GDPR and security incident management.
He began his professional career at CSS Corp as a Network Engineer, providing technical support for wireless and network security products while managing network access control policies and risk mitigation initiatives.
With extensive expertise in information security, cybersecurity, governance, risk and compliance, security operations, technical controls and network security, Kumaran brings significant experience and a strong security leadership background to his new role at CaratLane.
